Dawn

I took Aika for a long walk at dawn this morning, carrying Nadine’s Canon with our new Canon EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS STM tele lens.

I bought the lens for Nadine as a late Valentine’s Day gift after our vacation. It is also a bit of a gift for myself. 🤫 I find more enjoyment in seeing her using it though. She is better at taking photos than I am, so I am sure she will make good use of it. Compared to our old tele lens, this one has faster autofocus, image stabilization which helps because I am quite shaky, and less chromatic aberration which was a problem with the old lens (I mentioned that a few times in my posts last week). The lens is not a big tele lens, only 250mm, so it was easy to carry. I can hold the camera securely by the lens itself (this is what proper photographers do, right?).

I am out every morning around this time but today, knowing I have a nice camera setup with me I went for a longer route along the Elster. And to my luck I spotted an albino deer twice (51.1277, 12.2360). I am convinced there more of them around this areas. When I saw it the first time it was running over the open field which I thought was very unusual, the second time it was hiding from me deep in the forest.

Aika was relaxed the entire time, she did not even notice the deer.
