Sunflowers

Got inspired by Jasper’s flower picture. The ones we have here are shielded off behind a fence and an angry dog, so I was sneaky.

Claude

My software development at home has shifted away from typing code to writing messages into an empty chat window as Claude Code got “better”. Better in the sense of writing complex code, it is still annoying in its writing style. I got it under control with lots of training wheels (anti slop rules, superpowers) attached to it.

Flugplatz Böhlen

This week the 34. Deutsche Meisterschaft im Ultraleichtfliegen takes place at a local airport (Flugplatz Böhlen). There has been visibly more activity in the air over the last days, so the boys and I went over after finding out there is free training before the championships.

IT Guy cover image

IT Guy

I have always been the IT guy, for the family, for neighbors, for friends and their acquaintances. I am glad that part is over. Most of the problems were printers and bloated Windows installations. The internet has written plenty of bad things about printers, and I believe every word, printers are user unfriendliness by design.

Rain

Isn’t the bokeh behind this redstart lovely, taken with the RF 200-800, and that on a rainy day, after nine weeks of drought it rained for the first time this morning, at least a few hours of it. In the afternoon it stopped so it was time to get on the bike.

Schäm-dich

I enjoy cooking for Nadine. We both adopted the term “Schäm-dich” for food that should be under strict control of being eaten. The phrase is our translation of the English “shame stick”, which comes from a TV show with James Belushi, where it is a stick of butter rolled in sugar. In my head I misremembered it being related to Elvis Presley, who enjoyed a lot of Schäm-dichs.

Parasol

Today was a busy uneventful day. I took Kellin to get a large batch of beverages for the week, there is a Kaufland that now and then stocks drinks we do not get in our local supermarket, this week: German cider (“Apfelwein”), various IPAs and a pre-mixed Margarita. With Kellin there’s the number 1 rule, you go with him in the store and 15 minutes later he needs to pee. You can not avoid this. So we abandoned the cart, completed the job and went back in.

BBQ

We had a barbecue with Nadine’s parents and her grandmother yesterday. There have been wildfires in our area every day for the past days, all of them very small (so far), so we have been extra careful.

Mouser

Nadine took over photo duty yesterday. She does so well. She was photographing two young roe deers in front of our garden when a cat with a mouse in its mouth came by. Poor thing.

Hypo 1.16

Back from vacation, after using the previous Hypo release (1.15) on a few thousand photos in July, there were a few things I wanted to do better.
